Overview
INsight is a network appliance. It creates an index of all the files on the corporate network or Web site. Users can then search the INsight index and retrieve the desired documents. This basic concept is very familiar to any computer user. What makes INsight so different is the way it does this. Use
INsight is extremely easy to use. Anyone who has ever ‘googled’ will be able to use INsight. Simply point your Web browser to the designated search site, enter your keywords, and then click on one of the links in the result list. It is possible to setup user accounts within INsight and require that a user present their credentials prior to searching with INsight.
Installation & Setup
INsight comes in two form factors, rack mount or desktop. Just like any other network device, INsight needs to be configured with an IP address. Once visible on the network, all configuration and management is done via the Perfect Search console through a Web browser.
In the Feeder Menu, Web sites, Unix and Windows shares are configured for crawling, including settings for scheduled re-runs of the crawl job and the type of files to exclude. INsight comes with connectors for file systems (Unix and Windows) and Web sites. Additional connectors are available for purchase.
